What Season is it?

OK-Clearly getting on mom about more posts didn't work. It's been almost a year! Well not that long, but long enough.

I'm doing very well! I'm 4-enuf said! I think I'm the boss but mom keeps telling me I'm not. Time-out and I are good buddies! We're all doing very well.

I'm still in pre-school and doing very well. My progress with all my therapies is outstanding and my therapists (Bruna/Jean/Amanda) are all very proud of me!

I'm eating so much more now. Mom is trying to get me in a specialized program! I'm eating a lot of popsicles, bacon, crackers, french fries, and too many more to name.

My vocabulary has gotten much better and I have a lot to say-whether you're listening or not!

Mom and I live with our friends Karissa (I call her Karica) and Roger the dog. Roger and I have a love/hate relationship. :)

I've been going to a lot of mom's hockey games-pretty sure I'm gonna want to play hockey!

I've got to spend some time with my man J.R too playing games!

I get to go see my mom's cousin Mica in June and all my family in Minnesota because Mica is graduating! She's a smart cookie! I'm pretty excited. This will only be my 2nd time on an airplane!

I got to spend some time with my cousin's from TX this last month too. It was fun. My favorite was all the time playing!

I can't wait to camp and be on the lake this summer catchin' fish. Aunt Jen will be happy that I did a shout-out for her!

Summer 2010

I can't believe my summer is almost over. I start back to preschool August 9th, 2010. I'm excited to be around some of my friends from last year and to make new friends, I've really grown over the summer time.

I got to go to TX to see my mommy's cousins (Jory, Timmy, Erin, and Kelli) and see my Aunt Janet, Uncle Kelly, and all the cousins my age: Preslee, Bailey, J.T., Cayson, and Gracie! I had so much fun-I didn't want to come home. Got to spend some quality time with my Gigi and Poppy too-so that was cool!

I've also taken a couple trips to Grand Junction this summer-one to see my grandparents from MT and I got to ride 4-wheelers with my other cousins! Fed some baby chickens and Audrey's graduation and swam!

Right now I'm working on going potty in the big boy potty and talking-those are the big things I'm working on. I'm also working on jumping (both feet of the ground), mastering the stairs, and some other things! Mom is anxious to get me in swim lessons, I guess I think I'm MUCH BRAVER than I actually am! :)

Eating is still on the agenda and taking me a while, but my favorite stuff to chew on is Marshmallow's, graham crackers, pretzels, chips, and sometimes corn on the cob!

I know, mom's REEEAAAALLLLL bad with the postings lately...we'll give her credit tho, she's been pretty busy.

Let's see where to start: Well Dad is still in LA and when mom went to visit she said to me that it reminded her of a dirty Vegas (I dont' know what that means since I've never been to Vegas, but can't be good). Mom is still working at Volleyball and careing for me (which is still a full time job in itself).

I turned 3 last Friday the 26th! I can't believe I'm so old. Before you know it I'll be sneaking out of the house getting into trouble and dad will be busting me and locking me out of the house so I have to sleep on the front porch just like mom!

Let's see....OH AND i START Pre-school on Monday! Yeah, I'm excited to meet some new friends and learn bad habits! My health has been good lately and I've managed to stay out of the stinkin' hospital YUCK! My tummy is still giving me issues and I'm not as regular as mom and my nurse Cindy would like for me to be, but my bowels have a mind of their own.

I'm about 28 lbs now and Hilary our neighbor I think almost broke her arm trying to lift me this morning! hehehe, she had no idea!

This weekend Grandpa, Grandma Jo, Uncle Chris, and maybe Uncle Tylar are going to go get my playground set and put it up in the yard. You can bet mom's going to have a photo shoot with me when that arrives! Pictures will soon follow. Sending my what up's to everyone!

I'm doing really good. I'm still growing like a big boy with the trach out. I've been pretty busy with all my fun therapies. Mom bought a new wagon for me so we've been going on walks every chance we get.
I've also been helping daddy around the house with stuff. I helped him with the garage and put new cupboards up.
I have had lots of doctor's appointments to see how I'm doing and all my doctor's are very happy of my progress. I have a Bronchoscopy on Monday to see what's going on in my nose and my sinuses. I've been pretty stuffy here altely. The doctor's think I might have swollen tonsils or adenoids. Mom will keep everyone updated as she knows what's going on.
Other than that, mom is posting a picture of my at our friend's the Hammer's house. Kaila's birthday was on Saturday and I got to be one of the guests. I thought I was pretty cool jamming on my guitar and wearing my shades. My future's so bright I have to wear shades!

So it's been sometime since we've posted. Lots going on...

August 6th I got my trach out and I'm doing really good. I'm almost healed where the trach was and excited about making new noises and getting in the water. I'm not talking much more than I was...but you can sure here me when I'm upset!

I started Hippo therapy so I get to ride the horses now. That will hopefully help with my trunk control, neck control and sensitivities to my surroundings...plus i get to be on the horses, what better therapy than that.
I think mom has also got my in music therapy and this will hopefully help me talk more also. So I'm doing pretty good.

I've been busy helping mom and dad around the house. I'm gotten to be an expert at: vaccumming, pulling weeds, laundry and picking up my toys. I went camping a few weekends ago too. Mom will post pictures of me in this post...and you can see me with NO trach! I like to get dirty and I'm a boy through and through. I'm hoping to have a new cousin (my Auntie Andie is going into labor soon!) So I'll get to be around another little person. Can't wait to go on my next bike ride.

Hello, hello-

Mom is NOT doing a very good job at getting posts about me up here lately! I think she's got too much on her mind right now! that's ok.

I'm doing very well. I'm not only walking now-but pretty much running. Now that I've figured it out, I'm off, as to be expected! We've been staying pretty busy, visiting everyone, playing, therapies, doctor's appointments. This was a busy month I'll tell you what.

Well mom found out yesterday that my trach will be coming out on August 6th! That's soon, but I think I'm ready. Wish us all luck. I think I'm going to be a jabberton and have lots to say. Mom can't wait!

I'm eating in a new group with a bunch of cute little girls at feeding clinic. My first session was yesterday and mom thinks it's going to be a very good fit for me. I guess it must be something with the pretty girls! I'm still not getting any calories from any other foods, but I'm taking most everything to my mouth.

Mom is trying to get me into hypotherapy (riding horses). It's great for special needs children and I do love the horses. Mom is also trying to get me into Music Therapy. I can't go wrong there

My improvements have been really good here lately, and we're all very proud.

Mom want's to remind everyone "It take a village to raise a child". Can't remember who the quote is from though. Love you all. Hope everyone is doing good!

Summer 09

hey everyone,

sorry it's been a long time since our last post. We went on a vacation to MT too see my grandma and grandpa in Montana. We had a lot of fun over the 4th of July. We got to visit with some of my daddy's step-brothers and really relaxed at the house. My grandma and grandpa have the BEST deck ever. It's so relaxing there. I took my first plane ride. I did great. I also fished for my first time, and really got to see some good fireworks-dad got a little out of control.

I'm doing great. Weighing in at about 28 lbs and something oz. I'm getting tall too. 34 inches to be exact. Im' practically running and trying really hard to kick balls and jump now. Mom and dad are still looking at getting the trach taken out in August, hopefully the end of August. My eating is still so-so. I'm willing to put more to my mouth, which is good and improvement.

I'm still really enjoying my fishy pool. It's so hot here lately, I woudl rather be in the water than anywhere else. Miss everyone and can't wait to see you!

Well hi,

I'm doing really well. I'm getting pretty big and pretty aunry. My beautiful white hair is starting to turn a little darker, but I'm still a toe head! I'm about 27 lbs and still walking. I'm walking most everywhere. I'm better at getting up and down the stairs than mom and dad. My PT thinks that I still need to work on getting up to my standing position from the floor with no help. I'm getting much more interested in drinking from water bottles and drinking water, still not too interested in eating. I will still put things up to my mouth, but I'm not really eating.

I am a WATER BOY! If I could be in the water all day long i would be. I can play in my froggy pool for HOURS at a time if my mom let me.
I'm still likeing my 4-wheeler and on it as often as I can be. Not a whole lot of news. Mom and dad are hoping to take me camping soon on one of these weekends. It will be my first camping trip. We also 'inherited' a boat that dad and Aunt Jen are workign on, so I'll soon be taking my first fishing trip also!-Cant' forget my life vest!

Hey everyone,
sorry it's been a while...whoooo, we've been busy.

I'm doing well. guessing I'm about 26.5 lbs and I'm doing really well.
I'm walking and getting into everything! Mom was afraid of that and pulling a lot of hair out.

I'm making more noise around my trach and trying to talk more. I'm also scribbling and doing more arts.

Mom and dad are going to be working at getting my trach out this summer.
As far as eating goes...that's a slow process still, but seems to also be getting better. I'm getting to be quite the big boy.

It's very important that you all use this website to answer some of your questions because it wears mom out to try and explain how I'm ALWAYS doing. It changes daily!

Well here I am in my swimming pool and at Sportsmen's Warehouse yesterday shopping. I had my own shopping cart, which was fun. Hope you're all doing good.

My 2 year old Bday

I had a great birthday.
The weekend before I celebrated with my grandpa and Grandma Jo and Gigi and Poppy.
ON the actual day of my birthday mom and dad had a
'little' get together with some of my buds. Cooper, Page, Ripper, Sydney, Danielle, Karissa, Aunt kat and Destiny with Jon and honey and papa and uncle T...just to name a few. It was very fun. We went to Red Robin and I got spoiled. One of my best
gifts was Ms. Avis was there. I was so surprised. Mommy is posting some pics. of me.
I'm doing well besides that, just truckin' along. Have a great week.

Oh and I think mom is goign to post some pics. of me bowling yesterday too for Uncle Jeff's and Jamies' bday party.

I'm doing great. Haven't had much going on lately. Just wanted to pop in and tell everyone that I'm 23 lbs and probably getting closer to 24! I'm really growing.

Well I got spoiled! I can't thank everyone enough who got me all kinds of fun things. Aunt Janet and Uncle Kelly, Aunt Debbie and Uncle Butch, all my grandma's and grandpas. My nurses....gosh, so many to name, THANK YOU!!!I had fun watching everyone open their presents and I think I was a very good boy all and all. I'll get some more pics up from this coming NEW Year. Xmas time is coming

This weekend I went with mom and dad to cut down a christmas tree with my aunt jen and uncle Jeremy too. Dad likes to 4 wheel so we went to a path not traveled and found our chritmas tree. I think mom is going to post some pictures. I also went and saw Santa Claus for mom's USAV kids santa party, so that was fun. Sunday I just laid around, I was tired from all the decorating.
I'm still not walking alone (which mom thinks is good and bad), but I'm getting really close. I did ok at feeding clinic but I still feel like it's much more fun to throw my food instead of eating it, drive mom crazy. We'll post at Christmas time. Love you all!!!

Hi everyone.

Sorry it's been a while since we posted. I had a good time this weekend. I went to Denver to stay with my grandpa and Grandma Jo while mom and dad went to a christmas party. Then on Sunday...we did family photos for Christmas with our friends Mandy, Tony and my friend Cooper Roderick. It was fun. We got to play on the rocks.

I'm doing good. Mom suspects that maybe I've got a cold, but we arent' positive. Love you guys.

Hike

This was a good weekend for me. I got to hang out with my old nurse Avis. She really misses me and I miss her too, so I was really happy to see mom and dad go so i could stay up all night and party with Ms. Avis. We went for a hike on Sunday with Aunt Jen (me and mom) dad watched T.V and relaxed. I had a really good time. At first I wasnt sure, but it was good for me to get fresh air. Mom was the one with all the weight not me, so I just relaxed. Mom is going to put some pictures of our hike up.

Well,

i wasnt well enough to go trick-or-treating but I did help hand out candy. I was very busy on halloween removing and putting the candy back into the bowl. I think mom put on a halloween cartoon for me before bed too, so I was a tired little pumkin.
I'm still not feeling 100% from the flu, but I'm getting really close I think.

Oh boy! I had a busy weekend. Well some good and some bad. I went to the coffin races in Manitou Springs, CO. I've got a new picture of me in my dinosaur costume. But then Saturday I got the stomach flu and then Sunday-Tuesday my WHOLE family got it, yuck!!!! I think I'm feeling better though. I'm watching my signing times video now. Gotta go.

I had a good weekend. I went up to Denver to see my Aunt Janet that lives in TX. She had to come up for a funeral...that wasn't fun, but it was cool to meet more of my maternal grandpa's family. I also went shopping for Halloween costumes with my mom and dad and Aunt jen and Uncle Jeremy. Oh and I played Rock Band with my Uncle Chris and Aunt Mindy too. I had a busy weekend. It was fun though

Doctor AGAIN!!!

So I went and saw the doctor again today. I'm having some issues poopin. Anyways, they took and X-ray of my tummy and said that my fundoplication that helps me not urp anything up is loose, so that's not good news, that means that I'm going to have a revision...which means they'll have to go in there an fix it. The good news is the nice cops and firefighters were at childrens giving awesome kiddos like me pumpkins...so i got 2! A white one and an orange. I'll put lots of pics. of me up for halloween and you'll get to see my neat pumpkins. Have a great weekend everyone.

10/6/08 Doctor's appt.

So we went and saw the special needs doctor yesterday at Children's. I"m going to start getting more food during the day. I had my flu shot also so hopefully no more sickness's for me. The doc said I had an ear infection too, so that's not fun-more antibiotics-ick! Other than that I'm doing good I suppose. Just wanted to update everyone on my doctor's appt. I weigh 21 lbs 11 oz. I'm proportionate for my weight and height. Until next time!

Short and Sweet-

I'll be going to the Special Needs doctor tomorrow and the Children's Hospital with mommy. She's going to see how my progress is going as far as weight gain. Hopefully mommy will get some answers on my development and some other things! Wish me luck...I hate those dumb things that measure my weight and my height, and I know it's bound to happen! :)

Hey All-

So thanks to a new friend of mine, I've decided to create a blog for Cortland. I've got a lot of information on him on my myspace, but not everybody gets on myspace or has an account, so I've created this! One of the big reasons I created this was to alleviate some of the questions asked to my helpers (my family, my mom/dad, stepdad/stepmom/grandparents) Anyone that has really been helping me keep family and friends updated on Cortland's progress. With that being said, DON'T be offended if I send you here when you have questions about Cortland. It's not because I don't want to tell you what's going on, it just gets tireing. It's easier for you to take yourself to his blog and read ALL about what's going on with him. Mommies and daddies go through so much with their little ones we dont' want their energy drained with questions. We love you all though and want you to know what we know.
